If there was one place In could pick ( besides my home ) for super good food , great service and a nice atmosphere , without blinking , El-Cerdo would be my choice . El-Cerdo is the place I brought my girlfriend for our 6 month anniversary ( or I would rather call it our half year anniversary ..it seems catchier ) . I did a post on El-Cerdo in my old blog , and you can read it here .

I have frequented El-Cerdo ever since for special occasions and have never left disappointed ( Except for once , where I made a mistake of trying to widden my taste buds ) . I think El-Cerdo really deserves another spot in my humble blog after moving to it’s new location .

If you din ‘t already know , EL-CERDO serves pork as its specialty . EL-CERDO , by the way , means `THE PIG ‘ in Spanish . That explains it huh ?

The ambiance at El-Cedor is a very `friendly ‘ one . I can ‘t put a word to it , but when you dine there , its like dining in a place where everyone knows you . The staff are pleasant and the owner (Mr.Werner ) is a delight to deal with . I have since become quite a good friend with Werner’s nephew , Andreas who runs Werner’s other restaurant/bar , `Werner’s place , which is just a stone throw away from El-Cedor . Andreas used to be the so called `manager ‘ at El-Cedor before Werner’s Place opened in March .

Since dining in El-Cedor for almost 2 years now , I can safely say that I KNOW what to order . Werner or Andreas always offered their recommendation in the past , but now I KNOW what I really crave for on the menu .

The 3 dishes YOU HAVE GOT TO TRY when you are at El-Cedor are :

The pork belly with plum sauce

The pork belly has been one of my favorite dishes ever since I went there . It’s succulent , so juicy and has that slight sour taste ( initiated from the plum sauce ) that makes it a MUST HAVE . Plus it with the aromatic Catalan Rice ,it’s one of the best dishes there .

The Pork Ribs with mango sauce

This, I do not how to describe but it’s to die for . The meat is so tender and juicy , you’ll lick the bones after you’re done .

And finally for desert …

The rum and raisin pancake combines with hot & cold ice cream

This was supposedly prepared for the Queen of England by Werner himself . It’s to DIE for ( I know I have been saying that far too many times..). There is a slight taste of RUM , and the mixture of HOT & Cold ice cream is heavenly ! Owh , I’m craving for it as I type this !

When you do visit El-Cedor , you have to order these THREE dishes . I kid you not when I say these dishes are THAT GOOD .

If you want a romantic atmosphere on the other hand , bring your date to Werner’s place which is just opposite El-Cedor . Tell Andreas you’re a friend of David Lai and make sure he knows that `you have to impress ‘ , I’m sure he’ll do something really exiting for you . Andreas is by the way , such a nice guy .

There you have it , a GREAT place to dine and have a date , located right in front of each other . Two things to remember before you go to El-Cerdo :

1) Please make a reservation because I PROMISE YOU that it’s VERY hard to get a seat.

2)Don’t order the pork soft ribs …order the pork mango ribs . TRUST ME ON THIS .
