My 1st NEW BLOG UPDATE
This will be my 1st ever post on my new BLOG ( and a long one too ). A lot of things have happened lately and let me try my best to update on MY updates ( kinda rhymes does n’ t it ? ) .
I have been piled with work for the past few weeks . Heck , even my birthday passed by without a memorable trace . What did I do on my 22nd birthday ? I did a show for Parkroyal Hotel KL . It sounds pathetic celebrating your birthday `working ‘ … Yet again , another birthday goes by without any celebrations .
I did however receive close to a 100 over short messages and e-mails , the most ever compared to previous years . I hope I have already thanked everyone who wished me and IF I’ve missed you out , please do know that it means A LOT that you remembered . To the few who have sent in birthday presents ( you know who you are ) , thank you so much , I really liked them . =)
My Parkroyal Hotel Show for Orchid’s Suites opening was a success . It was a crazy show , but in the process I met many jubilant people who were very appreciative of what I did . I made many new friends to say the least .
My new lucky gold friend
Apart from getting to dine with some of the finest chef’s in the country after my show , I also don ‘t know what got into me and decided to put make up on , just for the fun of it . The effect was horrendous , and even that was an understatement . I scared many pretty girls away on my birthday .
I should be casted as joker in the new Batman movie
It has always been my preference to perform for a mature crowd . Mature in sense that they understand what I do . My performance style involves a lot of thinking , therefore it is quite imperative that my audience understands what I do . The people at Parkroyal fit the bill perfectly .
Or so it may seem ….
I’ll let the pictures do the talking for now .
I caught an uncle asking for a shot with the ladies
A few of my great and cooperative audience at the food counter
Working hand in hand with the emcee , Miss Xandria Ooi
I wouldn’t say that I had the best birthday ever . The girl I wanted to spend it with was in Singapore , the celebration I dream of having turned out to be work but the messages and calls made it an `okay ‘ sort of birthday . My mom even bought me a cake .
My birthday cake…yes, count the candles , I’m 22
That practically summarizes my 22nd birthday in whole . Oh well , not one of the most memorable ones … but decent enough.
Apart from my birthday which just passed , I am also up to many new things . I have signed up with a new event group , together with LIANG & ALAM ( winner of YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE ) . We will be managed by celebrity couple Christien and Lavin . I hope this new development will inject some new fuel to my magical sector . I like the combination very much and a BIG Congratulation goes out to Liang for winning TWO AIM awards last Saturday .
Our very first group meet up at Christien’s office in UCSI
Besides practicing and rehearsing my shows , I’, also doing a clip for my promo video . the clip will be out soon ( promise ) but as of now , it is still with the editors . I made a HUGE mistake using a SONY DVD recorder to record the videos as the final format is so bloody hard to convert . It’s comparable of having a BAD case of constipation . Many of my friends have helped me on this , and you’ll see them soon in the promo clip . Thank you so much guys !
Jessica , Hannah and me during one of the shoots for the clip
Finally , my performances have also took me to many places in the past month . I’ve flew to the Philippines , Singapore , Kuching and soon Kota Kinabalu . I really do hope more opportunities will pop out in the near future and many more exiting things are on the way . To be honest , I’m desperately in need of a short holiday but more work = more money , and hell do I need money at the current moment
Me and Magician Babe NING during my show in Singapore
A blur picture after my recent show in Kuching . Kenny Sia brought me for tea , and introduced me to Alwyn , the weirdest spectator I’ve ever met .
From now on , I’ll be updating on what happens in my life from www.davidlai.tv
I hope my current readers from my former friendster blog won’t mind the initial `hiccups ‘ of this new blog . It’s still a little messy , but I’m sure I’ll be able to settle it with time . Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you in my next post .=)
